*The purpose of this position is to provide for the
health and safety of the citizens of Grand Prairie
through the enforcement of City ordinances regarding
animal control.
*Duties to include but are not limited to:
*Performs animal care and animal shelter tasks to
include daily animal care, cleaning and feeding,
cleaning and disinfecting of kennels, cattery,
shelter and surrounding areas.
*Assisting public with adoptions and
owner-surrendered animals.
*Picks up and transports stray animals, livestock,
and/or other wildlife.
*Enforces animal control laws and ordinances by
patrolling the City for animal violations and
conducting inspections of properties.
*Investigates animal bite cases and reports of
animal cruelty/neglect.
*Issues citations accordingly and appears and
testifies in court proceedings as required.
*Cleans and maintains assigned animal control
vehicles and equipment.
*Euthanizes animals in accordance with established
procedures; updates euthanasia log books and
computer records. Disposes of deceased animals.
Prepares and forwards specimen to state laboratory
for examination.
*Responsible for regular attendance and arriving to
work on time.
*Ability to be on-call during non-working hours.
Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must be available for timely response to after hours
call-outs when on-call duty. Responds to after-hours
fire and police emergencies.
*Ability to handle the emotional stress of care
giving demanded by animal shelter work.
*Physical requirements include carrying or lifting
small or large animals, also subject to bending,
stooping, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching
and pushing to perform essential functions.
*Performs other related duties as assigned by the
Sr. Animal Services Officer.
*Education and Experience:
*Requires a high school diploma or GED and 6+ months
education at the technical or vocational level and
two years of related experience, such as veterinary
technician, kennel attendant or zookeeper.
*Requires a valid Texas class C driver's license.
*Basic Animal Control Officer Certification and
Certified Euthanasia Technician preferred. Must be
able to obtain certifications within six months of
hire date.
*Bi-lingual (Spanish speaking/writing) highly
desirable. |

animals. Prepares and forwards specimen to state
laboratory for examination.
*Cleans and maintains assigned animal control
vehicles and equipment.
*Supervises employees by assigning work duties,
monitoring work tasks, providing council to
employees as needed, and completing performance
evaluations.
*Completes other duties by developing standard
operating procedures, assisting with the budget,
maintaining records, and overseeing volunteers.
*Education, training and experience:
High school diploma or GED and 6+ months of advanced
study or training at the junior college, vocational
business or technical school level.
*Requires a combined total of 2 or more years in
animal care, animal control or code enforcement
experience.
*Ability to deal with citizens and to effectively
and safely handle stressful and possibly dangerous
situations.
*Applicant must possess a valid Texas class C
driver's license with an acceptable driving record
as defined by City policy.
*Ability to be punctual and attend work regularly.
*Ability to be on-call during non-working hours.
Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must be available for timely response to after hours
call-outs when on-call duty. Responds to after-hours
fire and police emergencies.

The Animal Services Operations Supervisor is
responsible for building a reputation of world-class
service with a focus on educating citizens about the

Prairie Paws animal shelter experience from any

shelter, including but not limited to:

* Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve and work with
minimal supervision.
* Be able to perform all physical aspects of the position,

(TAACO IS A NON-SMOKING FACILITY)
Full and or part time position Animal Care &
Control, Humane Law Enforcement Instructor.
Duties include but not limited to teaching
regularly scheduled Academy classes in Giddings.
Remote CE course as required. Some clerical and
office duties maybe required.
Must have a minimum HS diploma/GED, AA degree
or above preferred. Years of work experience
maybe substituted for college hours/degree.
Minimum 5 years ACO field experience, Animal
Care & Control Field - Vet Tech/Assistant also
preferred.
Must have completed at least the DSHS Basic ACO
course, with Advanced & Administrative
preferred.
Minimum one year experience working in and/or
managing an animal care facility highly
preferred.
30% to 40% travel required with some over night
stays ( All travel expenses paid) Some travel to
New Mexico maybe required.
Representing TAACO at regional and annual ACO
conventions (average 3 annually)

Salary paid bi-monthly, depending on experience
